Clickable nodes in pdf

Hello All,

I have a huge diagram (which doesn't fit in a single page)so I would like to split them hierarchically .

in page 1 i have the overview info
A-> B -1
A-> B -2
A-> B -3
A-> B -4

and expand the call of each of them in rest of the pages

1->a->aa
1->b->cc

I would like to have a link in node 1 in page 1 which takes to the relavant page and a link back to the home page.
How to establish this link.
I prefer the pdf as my end output.
I can create a hyperlink in pdf using the "URL" but no idea how to link two nodes.

Any input is much appreciated.

I need to check, but the usual pdf renderers from, say, cairo/pango, don't support links. The way around this is to use -Tps2, which produces PostScript, and then convert this to pdf. Unfortunately, the postscript driver may not support all of the features you want.

Post scipt method is also ok for me.

But I am not sure how to setup a link from node (say node A - node B) which are in two different pages.

Presumably you are generating

Presumably you are generating each of the different views. So you can create an anchor url for each page, and a map from nodes on a page to that page's url. You then need to specify the URL attribute for node A to be the url of node B.

Are you suggesting to use the URL attibute to link to another PDF file ?.

I would like to have everything in a single pdf file and with the links interconnected between nodes.

In this case, the urls you create would simply be the short versions used to move within a single file. However, Graphviz currently does not support multiple renderings within a single file except when using layers, as described in the documentation. You will need to use external tools to patch together a single PDF file.
